It was a thought provoking test. I have put together quizes to determine the understanding of subjects for students and it is very difficult, especially when trying to avoid my own bias. I have learned that life dosen't give us a lot of options to the answers of hard questions. Personally none of life's answers were the ones I really wanted. I delt with what God gave me to work with. Strange, they've all work out better than I could have ever dreamed. I wonder who manged that. I truly believe when we get to heaven there will be a lot of theology straightened out. In this quiz the answers are based on your foundational belief which you then work off of when you get more information. Oh yes and life never gives you all the information. One of the most reveling things is in the reviews. How arrogant, self righteous, and prideful the responses are. Now we see and know where our faith stands. And just so you know I scored a 32.

This quiz is unfairly written. As an Anglican, much of what I believe is traced back to the early church, and in some cases, directly to the Apostles. However, this quiz is written from a solely Protestant Evangelical persective, and therefore encorperates only traditions and interpretations that have been created since the Reformation, or, perhaps, the Evangelical movement of the mid-ninteenth century. I commend the writers for challenging the contemporary church on their knowledge of the interpretation of Scripture, but caution them against making any kind of statement pertaining to the ancient beliefs and practices of congregations outside of their immediate sphere of influence. Remember, there has never been a generation which agreed entirely on the interpretation of Scripture. Even the Apostles had differing views from time to time.

Constructing a test that is valid is not an easy task. The scrutiny required to determine the reliability of just one item on a psychological inventory is taxing and thorough. Similarly, there is sophistication in the educational world regarding appropriate pedagogical principles for test construction. What has amazed me for many years is that most professors have no training in teaching or testing. Professor McKnight’s hermeneutics quiz is certainly skewed on the conservative side. Any score close to ten discredits conservatism. It does not confirm it.
