This test was way too conservative. On most of the questions they didn't even offer an option on the liberal end of the spectrum. I quit about 10 questions in. The most "progressive" answer they can provide on the question of women is that the Bible's injunctions were "needed for first century Christians" but not today? Gimme a break!

I thought the tool was helpful. However, some of the questions need clarification to be answered properly. For example, how does one define bias--scientific bias, religious bias, etc. or context--historical context, juxtaposition etc.

Lame. The more you reject church tradition and historical context, and the more you lean on charismatic and individualistic interpretations, the more "conservative" you are. Bogus. Add to this the fact that the author is clearly unfamiliar with a variety of common theological viewpoints -- not to mention standard hermeneutical ideas -- and you're left with an entirely worthless test. Rather than calling this the Hermeneutics Quiz, they should call it "Quiz to find out what Scot McKnight calls you."
